چکیده

Aim: To estimate and compare the frictional forces engendered by three types of aestheticselfligating brackets with two straight wire alloys. Materials: The study comprised of a total of 90 brackets, of which 30 passive (Damon clear 2),30 active(GAC In-Ovation C) and 30 interactive (Empower clear) orthodontic brackets with a slot size of .022X.028 MBT prescription in combination with stainless steel(SS) and Titanium molybdenum alloy(TMA) wires of dimension 0.019X0.025inch.Frictional resistance was evaluated using Instron Universal testing machine and the results were tabulated. Results: passive aesthetic self-ligating brackets had least amount of friction when equated with active and interactive aesthetic self-ligating brackets with the use of either SS and TMA straight wires. Conclusion: The frictional resistance did not remain the same when tested with both the different types of rectangular straight wire alloys. All brackets showed higher frictional resistance when TMA rectangular straight wire alloy was used.

Introduction: The present study aimed to evaluate an experimental herbal mouthwash, as compared to sodium fluoride mouthwash on the frictional resistance and surface roughness between brackets and two rectangular archwire types. Methods: A total of 60 premolar׳s brackets engaged with 0.019×0.025 archwires made of stainless steel and nickel-titanium alloys were used in this study. The samples we...

Comparative Evaluation of Frictional forces between different Archwire-bracket Combinations

Introduction: During sliding mechanics, frictional resistance is an important counterforce to orthodontic tooth movement; which must be controlled to allow application of light continuous forces. objective: To investigate static and kinetic frictional resistance between three orthodontic brackets: ceramic, self-ligating, and stainless steel, and three 0.019×0.025” archwires: stainless steel, ni...

Evaluation of friction in orthodontics using various brackets and archwire combinations-an in vitro study.

AIM The aim of this study was to compare frictional resistance which was produced between conventional brackets (0.022 slot Otho-Organiser) and self ligating brackets (active Forestadent and passive Damon III) by using various arch wire combinations (0.016 Niti, 0.018 Niti, 0.017 x 0.025 SS and 0.019 x 0.025 SS). METHODS An experimental model which consisted of 5 aligned stainless steel 0.022...

Frictional resistance of self-ligating versus conventional brackets in different bracket-archwire-angle combinations

OBJECTIVE To compare the influence of archwire material (NiTi, beta-Ti and stainless steel) and brackets design (self-ligating and conventional) on the frictional force resistance. MATERIAL AND METHODS Two types of brackets (self-ligating brackets - Smartclip, 3M/Unitek - and conventional brackets - Gemini, 3M/Unitek) with three (0, 5, and 10 degrees) slot angulation attached with elastomeric...

Archwire depth is a significant parameter in the frictional resistance of active and interactive, but not passive, self-ligating brackets.

OBJECTIVE To elucidate some of the parameters determining the frictional behavior of passive, active, and interactive self-ligating brackets during sliding mechanics. MATERIALS AND METHODS A custom jig mimicking the three-dimensional tooth movements that occur during sliding mechanics and an Instron testing machine were used to determine the resistance to sliding of six different self-ligatin...
